SYNOPSIS

After the trilogy “The Age of Aquarium” (2019), “Let it Rain” (2020), and “Non-Upgraded Existence” (2021), as well as “RE.” (2022), which brought weighty topics to the stage, “St. Earnest,” the new piece by Cia. Nadine Gerspacher, is a homage to the lightness of being. The duet, danced by Nadine Gerspacher and the Romanian dancer Vlad Ion, takes the audience into the world of silent film comedy of the 1920s, combining subtle humor and clowning with expressive dance.

Mary and Steve live in the idyllic village of St. Earnest in northern England. They appreciate the simplicity of life and the soothing routines of everyday existence. They demonstrate their love for each other in a weekly, emotional ceremony, where they preserve the tears shed as precious memories. – Until an accident threatens to destroy their memories…

In a tragic-comic way, Cia. Nadine Gerspacher’s dance theater “St. Earnest” celebrates the moment in the face of life’s transience.‘’Dreamlike, very poetic Nouveau Cirque moments are

created by dancer and choreographer Nadine Gerspacher

with her company in the dance theater “St. Earnest”

(a cooperation between E-Werk Freiburg and Freezone Barcelona).

Powerful! Touching, visually impressive, surreal,

and beautifully terrifying..’’
